Ever since the recession, the spotlight has been turned up high on volunteer management professionals, waiting for them to provide new and innovative solutions to dwindling resources in today's strapped economy. Yet if you are like some of us, you landed in your "volunteer manager" seat with very little training, preparation or support. What resources are out there for volunteer managers and coordinators to excel and what advancement opportunities are there for those who hope to grow their careers?
Vic McCarty, Director of Events for Walk for Wishes will address these questions in our discussion on November 18. Walk for Wishes is one of three signature fundraising events @ Make A Wish Georgia, and raises at least $400,000 / event.
Vic graduated from Kennesaw State University with a BS in Human Services and a Nonprofit Alliance Leadership/Management Certificate. He began his career working in the Public Mental Health sector with chronically mentally ill adults and children.He has worked in the Government and Nonprofit sector since 1991.
Before joining the Make a Wish Georgia, Vic served as the Director of Development at Hemophilia of Georgia, Inc., managing all fundraising events and all volunteer resources.
Vic is experienced in Volunteer Management, Fundraising, event planning, strategic planning, budgeting, program and youth development and staff supervision.
He is married to Shanie Smith McCarty and lives in Marietta, GA with two children – Dalton (4th grade) and Chelsea Grace (1st grade).
