Each year, COVA Atlanta participates in a community service day.
This year, we will be volunteering with the Atlanta Community Foodbank.
The Hunger Action Center provides a great hands-on experience in a diverse and social atmosphere. Groups and individual volunteers come together to inspect, sort, and pack quality grocery donations to prepare for distribution to nearly 700 partner agencies across Georgia.
Join us for a great day of volunteering and helping to provide food for many families in the metro Atlanta area.
Your volunteer commitment is an important step in the fight to end hunger. We’re excited to have you join us at the Hunger Action Center!

Dress Code: Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are required, with sneakers or work boots recommended. Flip flops, sandals or heeled shoes are not allowed. Please wear comfortable clothing which you do not mind getting a bit rumpled. Some volunteers may be sorting refrigerated product. Please wear long pants and bring a sweatshirt or light jacket with you. In the event you are working elsewhere, we do have lockers onsite to place your outerwear.
Youth Requirements: All minors are required to bring a volunteer waiver signed by a parent/guardian. Groups must send in the signed waivers at least 1 week prior to the volunteer shift. You may download the waiver to sign at home here. We also require 1 adult chaperone for every 8 youth (12-17).
Safety: The Food Bank no longer requires that masks be worn or for a volunteer to show proof of vaccination to serve. Masks are optional and available for those that would prefer one. Please reschedule your volunteer shift if you feel sick or if you recently were exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19. The Food Bank may reintroduce these requirements if periods of high community transmission occur.
About the Hunger Action Center:
The Hunger Action Center provides a great hands-on experience in a diverse and social atmosphere. Groups and individual volunteers come together to inspect, sort, and pack quality grocery donations to prepare for distribution to nearly 700 partner agencies across Georgia.
Food Donations: With 1 in every 6 Georgians at risk of hunger, the number of people requesting emergency food assistance continues to grow. If every volunteer visiting our Hunger Action Center brings just two cans of food, we would be able to provide approximately 2,750 additional meals each month!
*Please consider bringing as many nonperishable items as you can! You're already making a tremendous difference by volunteering. Think how much that can be magnified by grabbing a couple of food items to bring with you when you come! We're always in need of natural peanut butter, canned chicken, and canned fruits & vegetables.
