Nonprofit Leadership: No Roadmap, Just the Journey

Join your fellow COVA members for the first in-person meeting of the season at United Way of Metro Atlanta. Arlene Parker Goldson will share her insight into nonprofit leadership using her own professional experience as a guide. You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn from a distinguished leader in the nonprofit sector and network with other volunteer administrators. 

Arlene Parker Goldson graduated Cum Laude from City University of New York. She received the University’s first BA Degree in Black Women’s History and has over forty years of professional experience in Strategic Planning and Development, Community Builder and Organizer, Non-Profit Board Development and Team Building, Organizational and Leadership Development Consultant, Trainer, Moderator, and Meeting Facilitator. Arlene’s role as a consultant and facilitator includes using structured fundamental business strategies to support community building and leadership development for nonprofit boards, organizations, community groups, and companies. She has served as a Community Coach for the Neighborhood Fund, Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta; serves as trainer/facilitator for Building Better Boards for the Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP), United Way of Greater Atlanta; and serves as Proctor for AIRS, the National 211 Information and Referral exam. Her board service includes the Sisterhood of Black Single Mothers, Black Women’s Health Project, and Inner Summit, Inc.; she is the former board chair for the DeKalb County Board of Health.

Arlene is a member of the Georgia Public Health Association, Southern Health Association, American Public Health Association, and the National Association of Leadership of Boards of Health (NALBOH). Arlene has also been a participant in Boston University’s Black Women’s Health Study for over 30 years, and she has served as a children’s book editor with OurRainbow Press

Arlene loves to spend time with her family and grandchildren, hike, and eat ice cream.
